Preston-isms and new Eva milestones

While putting Preston to bed last night I gave him his usual directions: "Stay in bed or you will lose your light." (He has his closet light on at night). So, through the monitor I hear him playing in his room, talking to himself and moving things around. I am pretty sure that he is out of bed. About an hour after I put him to bed, he is still playing around. So I go to his room and open the door while saying "Are you out of your bed?!"
I turn to look at him and he is tip-toeing on the edge of his bed, reaching over to the cabinet next to his bed, opening the drawers and pulling stuff out. He looks at me and then quickly glances down at his feet. Then he says, happily, "I'm in bed!" Sure enough, his little toes were still touching his mattress. I just laughed. What determination! He stayed in bed and did not lose light and got to play.

Lately, Preston is Buzz Lightyear. He really enjoys flying around. He is often quoting Toy Story 2, whether Buzz's lines or others. "You killed my father!" "I promise you will come out of the box!" "I still have an owner!" are some of the lines he has perfected. He got boots for the winter and they are "boots like Woody!" They have Buzz Lightyear on them and I caught him pretending that "Andy" was written on the bottom of his shoe. He often tells me after I say "Preston" to "say Buzz Lightyear, mommy."

Eva says "I love you" with her eyes. After I give her something she wants or say "I love you" to her she will shut her eyes really tight together and smile her biggest smile. Definitely her way of saying "I love you too." It is quite adorable, but very random. I am trying to get it on camera.

She also is starting to walk more frequently, taking steps between furniture and being more willing to walk between KeriAnn, Uncle Kevin, Daddy and Mommy (and Preston)! She is doing awesome.

Yesterday she ate with a spoon and bowl of yogurt all by herself. She had a great time and some of it went in her mouth.

That's all for now!

More Cute Sayings

We went to the temple grounds for Family Home Evening to teach Preston and Eva about the temple. It was a very sweet experience. Preston liked it a lot. We sang "I love to see the Temple" and Preston sang the last word of every phrase. He remembers a lot of songs! Preston and Daddy explored the temple grounds (grass, hills, flowers, pathways, trees) while I fed Eva. He was near me trying to climb a tree and I asked him "What is this tree close too?" (Trying to get him to realize he was playing at the temple). He answered me, "This is HIS tree." So Daddy asked, "Who is "his"?" Preston answered "Jesus Christ." He just knew it!

We were singing "Nephi of Old" (We'll Bring the World His Truth) and we came to the line "of goodly parents who love the Lord." I paused after "who love" to let him fill in the words "the Lord" like he usually will. But Preston, after hearing "who love" decided to say "my Grandma." Very cute. He loves you Grandma!

Preston and Daddy have invented a hugging game. It is really sweet. Preston says "grande" or "pequeno" and Daddy gives him big "grande" hug or a small "pequeno" hug. He says "grande" in his big voice and "pequeno" in this little high-pitched sweet tiny voice. Man, adorable, I tell you.

Our neice, Preston and Eva's cousin, Sierra, who is about one and a half, really loves little Eva. Whenever she comes over she is always saying "baby Eva" and pointing to her or playing with her. Sierra was at her house and had a poopy diaper. Her mom asked "Are you poopy?" and Sierra said, "No. Eva's poopy." The next time she was poopy she just told her mom, "Eva's poopy." How cute!

Cute comments

Stuff while Grandma and Grandpa were in town...
Grandpa asks Preston to shake his hand.
Preston says: "Are you a prophet?"

Katelynne was riding in the car next to Preston and started messing with his hair.
He says: Stop! Stop!
Katelynne: Stop what?
Preston: Stop that yucky stuff! Stop doing yucky stuff to my head!

Every morning Grandma was in town (and a couple mornings after) Preston woke up saying:
Can I go to GGs house to see Grandma? or Where's Grandma? or I want Grandma.
He wanted to spend every waking moment with her.

There are a million more cute stories. I will have to be reminded of them later.

This one is from yesterday:
We arrived at church.
Preston: "What's that on top of the church? Up there on top? What's that?"
Mommy: "What's what? What thing on top of the church?"
Preston: "Up there. On top! It's, it's...It looks like a little door or something."
We taught him about the steeple. How cute is that? He is able to express himself so well!

Gotta go, but I will go remember more cute stories for later.

Eva's First Ponytail!

Not her most photogenic hour, but she sure looks mature with this little ponytail! Aunt KeriAnn did it for her. In other news, Eva said her second word: Eva. Her own name! Preston was playing with her while she was in the stroller and he jumped up by her and said, "Hi Eva! Eva, Eva!" And she said right back, plain as day: "Eva."

Father's Day

Preston wished Daddy a Happy Father's Day today. He gave him a flower from Grandma's garden that he picked himself and he drew him a picture in nursery.

Today, while listening to his Chidren's music CD to go to sleep, "Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam" came on and before any words were sung, Preston was singing, "at play, at play" and then he followed along with the music when they started to sing.

When I picked him up from nursery today he told me how he played Ring around the Rosies by saying "rosies, rosies!" and going in circles and then saying, "we all hold hands! We all fall down!" and falling down.

I put Eva up at the table with us during dinner tonight and she was reaching for everything in sight. Preston says, "She is trying to get something yummy!" He is so cute. He was very nice to her all day today, hardly any hitting.

Eva said "pa" today. She giggled a lot while playing "follow the leader" with Daddy, Preston and I. She is growing very fast. She is interested in everything we eat and wants in on it!

Kevin is the best daddy in the world. He even changed a poopy diaper on Father's Day. I owe to him my sanity. I know that Preston and Eva would be very sad kids without him. Happy Father's Day!

Preston loves...

Mommy: Do you love mommy?
Preston: No! I love KeriAnn!
Mommy: And who else?
Preston: I love daddy! And Eva!
Mommy: Do you love mommy?
Preston: No! I love KeriAnn!

(I always get the short straw)!

Singing "Popcorn Popping" with Janet, GG, and KeriAnn:
I looked out the window and what did I see...
He glances around the table and notices that KeriAnn does not have her hands up to her eyes like fake glasses. So, he says: KeriAnn, can you do it too?!
Then he notices that GG is doing it, but she also has real glasses on. This is apparently a problem because he shouts: GG, can you take off your glasses!?

He repeated this song with them a few times and they also had a tea party.

He loves GG's house.

Funny Moment

Grandma: Wow, you are such a good boy!
Preston: I'm not good -- I'm two!!!

Little Excerpts of Preston's Conversations

Preston riding his bike from the top of the driveway to the bottom:
"On marks, get set, GO!"

Preston hears Eva crying:
"You dropped your car, Eva. Eva, you dropped your car!" He climbs under the desk and retrieves it. "Here you go, Eva." Eva cries louder. (The car was not the problem).

We were about to go to Logan with Grandma Hunter. I told him she was going to drive because she was big enough. He goes up to Grandma Hunter: "Grandma, ready to go! Ready to go! You drive. I too little."

Talking to me, out of the blue in the car: "Mommy, Preston a good boy?" I assured him that he is.

I asked him what he did in Nursery. He always says "played ball, snacks, crackers and water." Then, the other day he said, "sang songs on the carpet." Then, even later, he says to me "sang song: Book of Mormon Stories" -- while doing the motion that they taught him for the song. Then, I asked him to tell daddy what song they sang in nursery and he says "popcorn popping on the tree, with the glasses" showing us the motion of making his hands into glasses over his eyes. He knows more than I ever figure out that he knows.

More later, just didn't want to forget those ones.

Preston Prays for Daddy

I told Preston that Daddy had a hard test and asked if he wanted to help me say a prayer for him. He folded his arms and repeated after me.

I said, "Dear Heavenly Father, we ask thee to bless..."
And Preston said, "Bless daddy on hard test," all by himself. It was very sweet.

Random Pictures, Random Stories

Preston in Daddy's wrestling singlet. He knows a lot of moves and is only 2! Check out his awesome wrestling stance!

Cute Eva smile.

Preston and Daddy at BYU.

GG with Eva and Preston. Check out Eva's smile! Preston is just checking out the food.

Eva is now pulling Preston's hair -- she gets him back sometimes!

These are random, not in order of when they happened, stories. I haven't written down all these cute things and I know I already lost some!

Eva is crying in the car on the way home.
Preston: Eva, it's okay, Eva. Look at the sky! Look at the sky! (Arms spreading out in a circle and upward as if to motion her to look up).
Eva: keeps crying.
Preston: No crying, Eva! Be HAPPY!
Eva: cries louder
Mommy: Don't yell at her to be happy, that makes her sad.
Preston: Sing her a song mommy!
Mommy: Let's both sing her a song. (I start singing "oooh, oooh, oooh" so Preston can join in).
Preston: Oooh, ooooh, oooh...
Eva: ooooh, ooooh, ooooh
No kidding, really happened....so SWEET!

I tell Preston all the time that he will never ride a motorcycle. He is completely enthralled with them and every time we see them on our way back and forth to BYU, he shouts out "Can I ride a moto (Portuguese for motorcycle) mommy!?" mutliple times. I always say, "Nunca, nunca" --meaning "Never, never."
Daddy is driving. Preston sees a motorcycle.
Preston: Can I ride a moto daddy!? Can I ride a moto daddy? . . . Mommy diz "nunca, nunca!"
("diz" means "says").
Yesterday, Eva is taking a nap. Preston suddenly decides out of the blue: "I need to go see Eva." And so he walked all the way downstairs. I lifted him up and let him see her in the crib. He is just so cute.
Preston calls the doorbell the "dingbell" and I don't correct him. It is just too sweet.

He will typically ask "Can I want some..." whatever he wants. I have answered "You can want whatever you want, but it doesn't mean you can have some." But that answer doesn't satisfy him.
Eva has perfected the half trick, I will have to get a video soon.
Preston: Where's Daddy?
Mommy: Daddy is at school.
Preston: Daddy's at school?
Mommy: yep.
Preston: Daddy's at B-Y-U?
Mommy: Yep, Daddy's at BYU.
Preston says all the time now, "Can I go to BYU too?"
Preston is big on "Can I touch it?" lately as well. Whatever "it" is, he is asking "Can I touch it?"
We watched "A Night at the Museum" on our laptop with Preston the other day. A couple days later, Daddy picks up two pennies and shows them to Preston. Preston takes them and starts to put them in his ear.
Preston: Goes in my ear! See?
Daddy and Mommy: Don't put it in your ear.
Preston: It's in my ear, like the movie.
Mommy: What movie?
Preston: Like the movie on the computer! See? (Still putting it in his ear).
Mommy: Oh! Magic like the guy did on the movie!
Preston: Magic! See?!
We then instructed him on how to put it behind his ear, instead of in his ear.
Preston: Can I go to GG's house? ... Can I want some licorice?
Mommy: Maybe if you ask GG nicely.
Preston: Like this...Pleeaase...Pleeaasse, can I want some licorice? Like this, mommy!?
Mommy: Yep.
Preston: waah, waah, I cry like Eva.
Mommy: Eva is gonna get you! (I then chase him around the house, holding Eva out in front). (Eva giggles a little while chasing Preston). (Chase ends by Eva jumping on Preston and tackling him to the ground).
Preston: Eva scare me again! Eva scare me again!

There are more stories. I cannot remember all the cute things!

Then, not so cutely....
Sunday we won the Most Irreverent Family award. Daddy took Preston out of the chapel two or three times, I took Preston out two times and Eva out once. Daddy also took Preston just to the back of the chapel and Preston yells: "Mommy! Can I go out the door?!" across the chapel. When the sacrament prayer started, Preston started throwing a tantrum, screaming at the top of his lungs. Then, when the beautiful song in the middle began, Preston shouts: "Woooooo!" in obvious approval, but still...loud.
By the end of sacrament I really was wondering why we had come. But we made it through somehow. Then, to make our award official, during Priest's Quorum (the men's meeting), the Bishop stood up and said how proud he was of "Kevin's wife" and Kevin for switching the kids back and forth and making it through sacrament meeting and gave a short little discourse something like this "times like these are when you want to just throw in the towel -- they aren't getting anything out of it, we aren't getting anything out of it, why not just leave? But they stayed it out. So I just wanted to say good job."
Pretty crazy day. I thought it was pretty hilarious that the Bishop noticed how incredibly over the top Preston was that day. I really did almost go home after sacrament meeting -- I was feeling sick, but we ended up staying for all three hours of church.

Anywho, hope you like the randomness of this post.

A Collection of Cuteness

Preston and Eva enjoying some tummy time, the toy plane and cousin fun...

Cute together in their diapers.
Preston is giving her a "zorbit."

Preston in the plane -- it goes in the water so he calls it a "boat."

Eva really liked the boat!

All the cousins together -- Caysen, Dillon, Preston, Sierra, Kylie and Aspen.

Taylan and Preston.

Some cute Preston phrases...

This morning we made cookies for a funeral and we told Preston he could have one. We repeated this a few times so he knew exactly how many he could have. Then Daddy said "How many cookies can you have?" and Preston says, "two -- three -- four!" -- putting his fingers out as if he was counting.

I was singing "Follow the Prophet" to Preston and he was filling in the words when I paused to let him (we do this with a lot of songs). I sang "he helped things to..." and Preston sang "fall" -- the real word is "grow." Then, the chorus goes "follow the prophet, don't go astray," but Preston sings out "don't cross the street!" I just had to laugh. He sang it twice like this, one time saying "no go cross the street!" He is so cute -- and now I know what the word "astray" sounds like to a two year old.

Lots of Talk

Preston can say so much. What is really impressive, is his ability to correct himself. Two examples:

He said "I falled" and then, instead, quickly said, "I fell!"

After I taught him to say "we went" instead of "we go" he corrected himself midsentence: "We go to... we went to the doctor!"

Also, the other day he was saying "Oh my gosh" and daddy told him not to. Immediately after he said it again while walking down the hall, he looked back at daddy and covers up his mouth! So cute.

Preston Says Prayers

We have started helping Preston say his personal prayers. He has been thankful for oranges, diapers, igresia(church), and Grandma. He has blessed the baby, daddy and mommy's eyes and bocas (mouthes), and Grandma. He also lists off the people he is thankful for ranging from cousins to winnie the pooh and macaco.

It is such a joy to see him think about what he is thankful for and what he wants to ask Heavenly Father for. He is such a sweet little boy.

Preston Stories

I was feeding Eva and Preston decided to go outside. The backdoor is usually locked, but Grandma had just let the dogs in, so it was unlocked. Preston opened the door and went out, but then could not get back in (it is harder to push the door then pull it for some reason). So he kept shouting at me (he could see me through the glass door), "Stuck in here mommy! Stuck in here!" I just shouted, "You'll have to wait until Eva is done eating." That seemed to satisfy him and he went away from the door and played around in the backyard. A minute or so later he comes up to the door holding something up in his hand. I can't tell what he has, but he shouts "I go potty mommy!" and sure enough he is standing bare-bummed in the backyard with his wet pants in hand. He continued to shout "I go potty mommy!" until I got to the door and let him in.

Preston has some new phrases. When we ask, "What does Grandma say?" He responds, "I love you." in his most girly voice. When asked "What does Grandpa say?" He responds, "Where's my boy?" in the lowest voice he can manage.

Funny Kids

Preston was trying to go potty yesterday, attempting number two. I kept telling him, "Try to go." So he starts saying, "On you marks, get set...GO!" And every time he said "go" he would start grunting. I have no idea where he got this. But I guess it helps him poo.

Then today, Eva was watching Preston and I play air hockey and she just started to giggle her little head off every time Preston hit the puck. I think the face he made was funny to her. Then Preston copied her laughing and he says, "like Santa!" Although her laugh sounds very little like Santa Claus.

Cute Preston Sayings

Yesterday Preston told me "Jumping like a frog" while playing in the family room and "Swimming like a fish" while taking a bath. Today while eating toast he shouts "Cavalo!" and started to 'neigh' his half-eaten toast around the table. Then he bit the toast and says, "cavalo all gone!" He did the same thing with a cookie later today except it was a "dinosaur!"

Also today, he was eating a plum and when he got to the middle he bit the pit and started repeating over and over "I don't like it! I don't like it!" Then he said "Yucky. Trashcan," and threw it away.

Funny Potty Story

Preston went pee and he told me "I pooped!" and so I told him "No, you peed." He kept repeating "I peed," because he often just repeats and repeats the last thing I say. He stopped saying it for a second and then looked up at me and questions "I peeped?" He couldn't remember what he had been saying. It was so cute. I told him "peed" one more time and he repeated the difference, "I peed. I pooped" for awhile.

We have not been so successful today. We are on our eighth and last pair of underwear.

Precious Conversation

(Between Mommy and Preston, this conversation happens often during the day):
Preston (slowly swaying left to right): Hi Mommy!
Mommy: Hi Preston.
Preston: Home (matter of factly).
Mommy: Yes, we are home.
Preston: Daddy? Escola. (School).
Mommy: Yes, Daddy is at school.
Preston: Hi Mommy!!
Mommy: Hi Preston.
Preston: Home.

Between Daddy and Preston yesterday morning:
Preston: Hi Daddy!
Daddy: Hi Preston.
Preston: Home! (with excitement in the voice).

These little conversations make me feel so happy and know that my being home all day with him matters to him and makes a difference. :)

An Odd Kind of Seatbelt

When Preston was eating an orange one day he called out to me "Mommy, seatbelt on! Seatbelt on!" I went to see what the seatbelt was on and Preston shows me the "seatbelt" on the orange: the little thread-thingys that are left on the orange after you peel it. He now always says "seatbelt on!" when he wants me to peel the thread-thingys off the orange. Better name than I have for them I suppose!
